Cruise boats anchored among karsts at sunset

The Best Bai Tu Long Bay Tours

Eighteen cruises and tours, ranked by what they actually deliver — not by who pays us most.

We rank these on four things: how much of the quiet bay you actually see, the quality of the boat and guiding, value for money, and what real travellers say afterwards. Ratings and review counts come straight from GetYourGuide and are checked regularly.

We earn a commission if you book through the links below, at no cost to you. The cheapest tour on this page is not the one that pays us best — and the ranking reflects that.

How we rank these tours

We look at four things, in this order:

  • The route. A “Bai Tu Long” cruise that spends its afternoon queuing at Ha Long’s famous cave has not really taken you to Bai Tu Long.
  • The boat and the guiding. Cabin size, food and a guide who explains the bay make a big difference over 24 hours.
  • Value. Not the lowest price — the most trip per euro.
  • What reviewers say afterwards. We read the three-star reviews, not just the five-star ones.
Our honest advice: if you can give the bay one night instead of a day trip, do it. The day trip spends around five hours on the road for four or five on the water. One night costs roughly three times as much and delivers the sunset, the sunrise and the quiet — which are the whole point of Bai Tu Long.
